Come one, come all to the fourth annual July 4th Shawnee RUN for Fun sponsored by the Indian Hill Recreation Commission, held this year on Friday, July 4.

This popular event will be held in conjunction with Independence Day festivities at Stephan Field .

The one-mile race will start PROMPTLY at 9:45 a.m. (10:00 a.m. for the youth race.)  The race course will begin at the corner of Drake and Shawnee RUN Roads.  The race will then proceed east one-half mile along Shawnee Run Road with a loop at the mid-way point, returning west along Shawnee RUN and ending at the finish line (four-way stop at the corner of Shawnee Run and Drake Roads.)  The kids’ event will begin at the northeast baseball field at Stephan Field (just before Wyman Lane) and continue to its end at the four-way stop.

Most importantly, the Shawnee RUN for Fun will be completed well before the July 4th Parade reaches Stephan Field Park, allowing everyone to enjoy the race competition, the Parade, and all the festivities and activities at Stephan Field.

To add to the FUN and in keeping with the entertaining theme of the July 4th Parade, the Shawnee  RUN for FUN will focus on both the fastest runners as well as the most creative/entertaining runners from a costume standpoint, with prizes awarded for competitors with the fastest times and best costumes.

Registration for the IHRC July 4th Shawnee RUN for Fun is free and open to adult and youth members of the community.  Priority registration will be given to residents of the Indian Hill School district.  A limited supply of commemorative “IHRC July 4th Shawnee RUN for Fun” T-Shirts will be available to the first 100 registrants.  On site registration can also be completed beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the starting gate on the day of the race.
